Bio —
Originally from Slovakia and now based in the UK, Nina first gained widespread attention after winning the Radio_Head Award for Newcomer of the Year in 2021 (curated by Slovak national radio) for her debut single ‘Blue Sunray’. A graduate of the prestigious BRIT School in London — whose alumni include Amy Winehouse and Adele — she released her debut EP Pandemonium to critical acclaim. The EP’s standout track, ‘Moonlight’, was named Song of the Day by KEXP Radio (US), and Nina was soon featured on BBC Radio 6 Music, Under the Radar, Louder Than War, and Electronic Sound.
In 2024, she released her debut album Gentle Autopsy, which was awarded Best Slovak Album of the Year and received a nomination at the Czech Anděl Awards, further solidifying her position in the music scene.
Nina has performed at iconic venues across Europe, including Hackney Church (London), Kino Šiška (Ljubljana), the Attenborough Centre for the Creative Arts (Brighton), and Santeria (Milan). Her festival appearances include Eurosonic (Groningen), The Great Escape (Brighton), Waves Vienna, and the BUSH Festival (Budapest). In the summer of 2025, she will join Massive Attack on the main stage at Pohoda Festival in Slovakia, and perform at Fusion Festival (Germany) and Colours of Ostrava (Czech Republic).
Nina Kohout is a sonic storyteller who pushes the boundaries of musical obedience, forming a constant conversation between invasive horror and fragile purity. Her music intertwines the haunting ambiance of ancient Slovak folklore, classical elements, and dark electronica.

Press quotes —
“You can’t help but feel like a part of Nina’s music when you listen to her live; it’s an experience like no other act I’ve seen.”
— Tula Gartmayer / Clunk Magazine
“Beautiful, charming and astutely stripped-down chamber pop of Nina Kohout.”
— Richard Foster / Louder than War
“While as a singer her talent is undeniable, it is her songwriting and composition that help her to stand out. Whether she performed at the piano or with an acoustic guitar the music danced with these narratives in a mesmerising way, packed with influences from classical music, folk songs, traditional waltzes and even elements of Arabic composition.”
— James Thornhill / Under the Radar
“There’s something otherworldly about Nina Kohout, and her set at The Folklore Rooms for Brighton’s Homegrown Festival confirmed it: she’s not just an artist to watch-she’s an artist to experience.”
— Sara-Louise Bowrey / Brighton and Hove News
“Nina Kohout casts a spell upon onlookers in the Kabinet (stage), as her teenage take on trip hop and alt pop is at once innovative and enigmatic.”
— Jimi Arundell / FMS Magazine
“There’s a vibe of Goldfrapp and Portishead in the arrangement, which makes an excellent backdrop for Nina’s haunting vocal. Delicate and special, Nina surely has a bright and successful future ahead.”
“The EP feels like a strong start to a career of unlimited possibilities. It’s creative and surprisingly mature, just like Nina herself. I’m certain her star will continue to rise.”
— Jeremy Hill / Spectator
“Nina Kohout is very young, and I genuinely do not know if we have had such a comprehensive talent in singing, composing, producing, and performing. Nina is far ahead, yet she is just getting started. Keep an eye on her.”
— Marian Jaslovsky / Tyzden
“As if Alejandro Amenábar made Alice in Wonderland for the symphonic Björk, as if closing one’s eyes finally meant completely feeling the world around. The Slovak singer Nina Kohout is releasing a multi-genre, in places playfully picturesque and in the production wonderfully compact EP Pandemonium.”
— Mojesbirka
“Gentle Autopsy is an artful and honest pop masterpiece that everyone should give the privilege of spinning at least once in their life.”
— Christian le Surf / Brighton and Hove News
